What Biblical Love Is

A whole-Bible account of love for God, love for neighbour, and why love is the greatest of these. Everyone says love matters. Christians say it more than most. We sing about love, preach about love, quote 1 Corinthians 13 at weddings, and insist that the faith is, at heart, about love. Yet when you ask what love actually is, the answers often feel thin. Love becomes niceness. Or sacrifice. Or acceptance. Or a warm religious feeling. Sometimes it becomes little more than a tone of voice.

What the Bible Actually Says About Parenting

Scripture treats parenting as something weightier and steadier than either of those reductions. Children are received as a gift from God. Parents exercise real authority under God. They are called to teach, correct, explain, model, pray, and persevere. They are also warned not to provoke, embitter, neglect, flatter, indulge, or crush the children they are meant to shepherd. That means biblical parenting is not mainly behaviour management. It is not mere emotional nurture either. It is a Godward stewardship.

Grace Is Not Permission, and Law Is Not Salvation

There is a mistake people make on both sides of the Christian life. One side hears so much about grace that obedience begins to feel optional. Sin becomes something to shrug at. Repentance becomes vague. Holiness becomes suspicious. God is reduced to an endlessly indulgent grandfather whose main role is to excuse whatever we were already planning to do. The other side hears so much about obedience that grace begins to disappear. Christianity becomes a project of self-management. The soul lives under constant strain. Assurance rises and falls with performance. The commands of God are still there, but now they are handled as though they were a ladder to climb rather than a life to receive and walk in.

When the Devil Came to Jesus

In this study, we walk carefully through Luke’s account of the temptation of Jesus, paying close attention to its literary context, theological structure, and relationship to the other Synoptic accounts. Why does Luke place the temptation after the baptism and genealogy? Why does Satan challenge Jesus with the words, “If you are the Son of God”? Why does Jesus answer from Deuteronomy? And why does Luke end the sequence at Jerusalem?

Repentance and Faith, Inseparable Truths

Conversion is not a two-step program. In Scripture, repentance and faith come as one summons, a turning from sin toward God and a trusting in Christ as Lord and Saviour. This post clears away common confusions, showing that repentance is more than regret and faith is more than agreement. It also warns against two deadly errors, cheap grace that leaves sin untouched and legal repentance that tries to earn mercy. The gospel call remains simple, direct, and uncompromising: repent and believe.

The Gospel of the Ordinary: Reclaiming Holiness in the Mundane

Does holiness belong only to the cathedral, or does it have a place in the commute? Many Christians suffer from a "spiritual Gnosticism" that separates their Sunday worship from their Monday morning reality. In "The Gospel of the Ordinary," we explore the biblical concept of ἅγιος [hagios]—being set apart—not as an escape from the world, but as a transformative presence within it. From the "Mortification of Sin" in the breakroom to finding "Doxology in the Dirt" of daily chores, discover why your ordinary hours are the primary liturgy of your priesthood.

The Granite Altar: Why Personal Revelation Must Bow to the Written Word

The Holy Spirit, who is the Author of the Sacred Page, does not suffer the indignity of being made to contradict Himself. We live in an age that prizes the 'inner impression' over the objective Canon, creating a generation that is biblically illiterate but mystically intoxicated. To look for revelation outside of what has been recorded of Christ is to suggest that Christ is insufficient. Build your house on the granite of the Word, or prepare to watch it collapse when the storms of life reveal the emptiness of your personal revelations.

The Jealous Fire: Why God's Wrath is Essential to His Love

We often imagine God toggling between "wrath mode" and "love mode," but the Divine Nature is not divided. In this theological deep dive, we examine the "Jealous Fire" (Zelos) of God—proving that His wrath is not a temper tantrum, but the necessary reaction of Covenant Love against spiritual adultery. Discover how the Cross serves as the only place in the universe where the thunder of Law and the kiss of Peace meet, offering the believer both unshakeable security and a call to radical holiness.

The Allegiance of Faith - Why 'Believing' Means More Than You Think

We have a dictionary problem. We have diluted the robust, blood-earnest Greek concept of pistis (faith) into a weak modern definition of 'opinion.' But if faith is merely mental agreement, then the demons are the greatest believers of all. This post re-examines the doctrine of Sola Fide through the lens of 'Allegiance'—shifting the focus from the accuracy of our intellect to the loyalty of our hearts. Discover why saving faith is not just a nod of the head, but the bowing of the knee.

False Teachers: The Church's Hidden Crisis and How to Spot Them

Jesus warned of wolves in sheep's clothing—predators who look like pastors but feed on the flock rather than feeding it. In this urgent biblical analysis, we examine the five clear marks of a false teacher found in Scripture, supported by the timeless wisdom of Charles Spurgeon, Matthew Henry, and the Church Fathers. Learn how to discern the difference between a stumbling shepherd and a dangerous heretic before it is too late.

The Constricted Path and the Open Road: A Theology of the Two Ways

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus strips away the illusion of neutrality with the doctrine of the Two Ways. This study synthesizes the tension between Divine Sovereignty and Human Responsibility, exploring why the Gate is "narrow" (*stenos*) and the Way is "hard" (*tethlimmenē*). By balancing the voices of Charles Hodge, John Wesley, and the Church Fathers, we discover that the pressure we feel in the Christian life is not a sign of failure, but the necessary crushing that shapes us for the destination of Life.

The Immeasurable Glory: What the Puritans Got Right About Holiness

We often caricature the Puritans as joyless legalists, obsessed with rules and devoid of life. But what if they held the key to the very thing the modern church is missing? In this post, we dust off the 'Old Paths' to discover that for the Puritans, holiness was never about earning God's love—it was about enjoying it. We dive into the vital distinction between the root of salvation (Justification) and the fruit of salvation (Sanctification), and why the famous warning—'Be killing sin, or sin will be killing you'—is actually a promise of freedom. Stop settling for a 'clean outside' and discover the immeasurable glory of a heart renewed by grace.

Giants in the Mist: Why Spurgeon and the Puritans Are the Antidote to Modern Anemia

In an era of high-tech worship and "relevant" messaging, why does the modern soul often feel so anemic? We have traded the granite of the Reformation for the papier-mâché of pop psychology, leaving us tossed by every wind of doctrine. To recover our strength, we must look backward—not in nostalgia, but to the "Old Paths" (Jeremiah 6:16) trodden by the Puritans and Charles Spurgeon. These giants were not joyless moralists; they were physicians of the soul who knew God as a consuming fire and a loving Father. It is time to blow the dust off the old volumes and rediscover a weight of glory that can sustain us in a lightweight age.

The Idol of Self vs. The Glory of Christ: Recovering Biblical Humility in an Age of Ego

The modern world tells us that the remedy for the human condition is to love ourselves more—to gaze into the pool of our own potential until we are made whole. But the Gospel of Jesus Christ shatters this mirror. Drawing from the wisdom of the Puritans and the exegesis of Philippians 2, we confront the uncomfortable truth: our problem is not a lack of self-esteem, but a surplus of pride. True salvation is not found in ascending to self-actualization, but in descending with Christ into the freedom of self-forgetfulness. It is time to trade the empty glory of Kenodoxia for the cross of the Savior.

The Danger of 'Cultural Christianity' vs. Biblical Faith

Cultural Christianity trades the unchanging authority of God’s Word for the shifting values of the age, producing a faith that looks Christian but lacks the power to save. This article exposes the dangers of a belief shaped by opinion, emotion, or cultural trends, and contrasts it with the living, Christ-centered faith revealed in Scripture. True faith rests on the sufficiency of God’s Word, embraces Christ with confident trust, and produces a life marked by obedience and holiness. If we are to resist the drift of the modern church, we must return to Scripture as our only rule and Christ as our true North.

The Uncomfortable Trinity: Confronting Modern Distortions of Grace, Love, and Judgment

The contemporary church often resembles a builder shaving down the foundation stone rather than leveling the ground. We have smoothed over the severe attributes of God to fit cultural sensibilities, resulting in a gospel without the weight of judgment, the holiness of love, or the cost of grace. This distortion makes obedience seem optional and threatens the very heart of the Christian faith.
